How to be happy. What do you do when you are about to turn thirty and start realizing it's too late? That a career really won't make you content or fulfilled? Is ignoring your biological clock going to result in anything more than regret come menopause?
Maybe that is too dramatic, or maybe it's hard to be honest about something you feel strongly about. Maybe you didn't feel strongly about it before, or maybe, after being told your goal is to get an education in order to get a job, in order to support yourself (because no one else is going to do it for you), the idea of expecting someone else to want to support you and offspring (because I don't think it's the best option to try to raise children AND work) is way too much to ask. So how does it ever get done? Not only a person willing to support you and your offspring, but to be excited about it and believe, as you do, it is in the children's best interest, and maybe even appreciate the fact there is someone who believes that way, and is not so wrapped up in the work work work/rampant consumerism cycle.
What is the problem here? If you entered the dating arena armed with this information, you'd probably scare off every man you meet. The idea of including the fact "someday I would like children" would have been pretty disastrous in the days I dated (hindsight being what it is, perhaps that was the way you weeded out the ones you didn't want).
Ugh, so long winded. It all comes down this. You cannot go back and do it again. You cannot count on reincarnation. You can only raise your children to be confident, happy people - sure of themselves and the options they have in life. Oops. No you can't.
How about, you can look forward to describing your hopes, dreams and regrets on Live Journal.
