Cold Nights

Brrr, it's cold outside at night now (and most of the morning). Afternoons have been in the 60's though, and that's nice. I have to say, with the cold nights, I'm getting some of the best sleep I've ever had.

We got a birdbath a week ago, this has only improved our rate of birdseed loss - it's amazing how fast it runs out. We are seeing: Cardinals, Blue Jays, American Goldfinches, I believe a Pileated Woodpecker, White-Breasted Nuthatch - those are really cool - the hop down trees, tapping for insects.
The kitties are having a great time with these.
In the back window, we have a a bunch of squirrels - going acorn to dropped acorn nibbling. Yesterday there were 3 out at once, and that had the cat's attention for quite a while.

We (Marc mainly), re-hung the ceiling fan in the master bedroom - it looked like it wasn't supported properly (which was true), but is now. Sadly, I think we'll have to do this for all the light fixtures. Speaking of, we picked up a couple of really cool porch lights to replace the existing mediocre motion detector ones. We haven't installed them yet, but I sense a before and after pic will be in order :)

I made corned beef and cabbage this weekend, so last night I made corned beef hash with the leftovers - I believe corned beef hash should be like hash browns (well, cubed potatoes) and meat. Unfortunately, this turned out more like mashed potatoes and meat (there were onions and green peppers in there too). To tell the truth, it was really good, and I no longer consider it wrong :)

Dinner tonight will be red bell peppers stuffed with a sausage/rice mixture.
