He tried curling up in the car seat this morning, but the new sheets were in the way.
I attended the last LLL meeting of the month this past Wed. This was also a really good one so now I'm down to three that I really like & want to attend. Once the baby is here I think I can narrow it down to two.
Food. I rarely make homemade pizza because as much as I like Cook's Illustrated, I'm not a huge fan of their pizza crust. Wed. I tried a new recipe and it turned out really good. This recipe is from the Stinking Rose Cookbook. The recipe makes 4 4" pizzas (appetizers), but I used the same amount to make 1 cookie sheet size pizza plus some breadsticks.
1 package active dry yeast
1 1/4 C. warm water
1/2 C. olive oil
3 - 3 1/2 C. All Purpose Flour
1 tsp. salt
Soften the yeast in water.
Stir in the oil then the flour and salt.
Knead until the dough is soft and elastic - 15 - 20 minutes.
Place dough in an oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap.
Refrigerate for one hour.
The striking difference between this recipe and most others is the amount of olive oil. I did happen to use a fantastic Kalamata Extra Virgin Olive Oil that we got from Trader Joe's less than a month ago. (It's more than half gone!)
Anyways, now that I've found a crust recipe I really like, I can see us having homemade pizza more often.
New sewing project. Last week I "made" a receiving blanket. I quote made because it essentially meant taking 1 1/4 yards of flannel and finishing the edges. I worked really hard - even mitering the corners to try to make it look good and it does! So now I'm making napkins. I'm using cotton, although I'm having doubts about it now - I've zig-zagged the raw edges & then washed & dried the fabric. It's very wrinkly & shrunk quite a bit. I'm now hemming the edges/mitering the corners, which is time consuming but not too difficult. My thought process was to have a fair amount of "every day" napkins, and skip the expense of buying paper napkins. Now I'm a little worried w/ this fabric I'll have to iron them everytime I was them (more trouble than it's worth? I don't iron anything). Smart thing to do - a little research on a sturdy fabric that won't wrinkle up so bad & make napkins out of that.
In the long run, hopefully all this practice will get me closer to a place where I can make halloween costumes & at least pajamas.
I should apologize for having such mundane entries, but in a year, I'LL really enjoy going back and reading this so I won't :)
