It is a real challenge to keep everyone updated.
We've spent the last couple of weeks trying to make the best choice about our mini-van, which needed the transmission replaced. We have 2 Honda dealers in the area. One, who we bought the vehicle from less than a year ago, and the second, which we had used with the Element. We started using the new place because they had a very kid friendly waiting area. Our "problem" light came on recently, and we took it to the first place and they wanted to charge is $250 more for the transmission flush than the second dealer. This was after he told me how bad he felt for us, not even putting 15,000 miles on the car, and he'd do anything he could to help us out.
We've been stressed, wondering if it would be worth it to put so much money into a vehicle w/ over 100,000 miles on it or if we should lease a new one. I've been stressed thinking about mileage restrictions. We took it in to dealer number two, and they were able to give us an amazing deal, essentially a third of the price, and we also got the front brake pads replaced, and a some seal and a couple wires fixed that they found when taking the transmission out (or whatever they do with that).
Anyways, we got our car back yesterday and all is well. We're hoping for three years out of it, but I think I'll be happy if it ends up being one more.
