Added some pictures to August 2009. I love this one of L. His hair is a bit shorter now. I cut more than I expected, so much of it gets snarled and tangled.

Well, we finally broke down and spent the $80 for a library card in the next county. I have no doubt it will be worth every penny. Friday we spent some time reading books in the children section, picking out more for home and getting L excited about the summer reading program. We're both looking forward to weekly visits.
F started busting out great smiles last week. Over and over in the morning. Today M got a bunch of "so happy to see you this morning" smiles for the first time. Last night was F's first tub bath. I've been doing the sponge bath until now. F loves the water.
F gets cuter by the day, maybe even by the minute. He always smells wonderful, even when he's stinky. He's such a peaceful, snuggly little guy.

92 degrees yesterday! The weather did not stop us from checking out a new (to us) park. I kept hearing about a much bigger (than the local ones) park in snatches of conversation while at other parks. This week we were out and a kind woman told me where it was.
Indian Camp Creek Park is a really cool park. They have a large structure with a (real!) tire swing and there is a teeter totter. Near here is a picnic shelter and a path to the creek.
Further along in the park is another play area, they call a "nature-themed playground". There is a pipe spewing clean, cold water. This feeds a small, man-made, rock-bottom stream. It's a great place to play.

There are a ton (74) of new pictures in June 2009
Last night I was fortunate enough to get an 8 hour sleep streak with only one wake up to nurse (and I all but slept through that). Wow.. that's sleeping through the night for an adult. (5 hours for a baby is sleeping through). While this isn't great for keeping ovulation away via nursing, it sure feels good to get that sleep. Yea, I'm knocking on wood as I type this. Of course, he was try this entire period as well. I could have caught that first pee if I hadn't chose to nurse first...

Not much to write... maybe how fast F is growing. He was weighed this past Saturday and is already 10 pounds. He's a healthy little guy and he's changing before our eyes. It's amazing how the back of his head fits in my hand. He sometimes dreams with his eyes open and this is when we can catch a smile in his sleep.
We went to the playground Friday. They had the sprinklers on and L had much fun running around and around through them. It was a warm day and the water was very cold. But he still kept going, he was having too much fun to stop even though he was turned into an "ice duck".

Photos are now in June 2009
We attended our monthly Potluck and it was a Tie Dye one, I made shirts for the boys and silks for them too. Pictures of everything are at the above link. A couple of examples:

This week we went to Grant's Farm. L had fun seeing recognizable animals, especially the Giant Tortoise. He liked the goats too. He had fun riding the carousel, sharing a blue raspberry snow cone and getting caught in a rainstorm. The lemonade was pretty good too.
There are more pictures from the visit in the above link as well.

Yesterday morning he told me F was so cute, he wanted to look at him forever:

While they were nursing to together and looking at each other, I saw the both corners of F's mouth go up. It appears L got the first smile! M got to hear F giggling in his sleep this evening. (I've heard it also, a a week or two ago). So cute.
Tonight, F slept in M's arms long enough for L and I to shower, get L to sleep and another half hour on top of that. Oh, how magical going to the restroom to pee on WHIM! So if I time this right, I'll make popcorn, grab back the baby and watch Eddie Izzard: Dress To Kill tonight :)

Many photos added to May 2009. It's a good thing May is almost over... we're up to 215 photos. Included are some shots of cute stuff Aunt S knit.
M goes back to work work after tomorrow. It'll be a hard adjustment, but I think getting back to "normal" will be good too. L has done great with F's arrival overall, although we've had a couple of brief tear filled episodes that were pretty heartbreaking. I've been working on spending more time with him, just doing whatever he wants. We've been reading Stuart Little in bed, and that works really well. Playing legos and cars on the floor works too. Me getting any computer time in does not work well at all.
It'll be good when I can get the three of us out to the park. I'm not sure how soon.. this week I overdid it and felt very set back on Thursday. All walking I did was extremely painful in my tear and surrounding region, so I've been back to taking it easy.
Last night we had out first night of 100% catches. There was even a time where I tried F on the pot and he didn't go. There was a 5 hour period between pees, which makes me think he's holding for a bit longer. The night before we had only 1 miss. Days are good, I'm catching more than missing. It's really a lot more fun than it sounds. I'm thrilled with how EC turned out with L, and will be with F as well, whatever the results. I will admit I'd love a repeat of early age dry at night.

New Photos in May 2009
Monday marked F being 1 week old. It was also my first venture out of the house (as well as F's first car ride and outing). We all had a good time, although I was a little sore by the end of the day.
Most of the day was spent procuring things we realized we needed. The rest was fun.
We had a good time at the park:

What a climb:

F _loves_ the sling. I've been using a wrap (Moby), which I didn't have with L. I'm still getting the hang of it, but wonderfully, I am able to nurse and walk in it at the same time. This makes everything much easier. So the entire day F was either nursing or asleep. For the car ride there he was out and the same for the ride back, except for a small alert period where L made up little songs to sing to him. L let us know having F back there with him was better than having either of us. This really surprised me (and I wonder if it will last).
Marc and L went out to get an oil change today, along with more park time and various errands. I missed L terribly, but it was also pretty blissful to spend the day snuggled in bed with my newborn and not have to think about anything else. L was pretty lucky to have me to himself for the newborn stage, I now realize.
We're all feeling pretty lucky to be a family of four.

New photos in May 2009
Things are good. I'm healing physically, so much faster than with the Cesarean (of course). L and I snuggled up with F on the couch, watched Annie and ate mountains of popcorn yesterday. It was really good to do something "normal".
As I did the first time, I'm having so postpartum sadness (ie. frequent crying episodes). It mainly revolves around L's growing up so much, which is much harder to take than all the crying I did the first time around, focused on the cats being pushed away. I keep telling myself he was going to grow up anyway and a lot of this is the hormones.
This guy now has a name!

It's nice how much easier the baby care aspect is the second time around. Breastfeeding is a breeze, co-sleeping is easier, I've started slinging earlier. EC is still pretty hit and miss, I've caught quite a few more but still catch less than not. This is due to how much F pees and poops while he is sleeping. I assume L did this too, at least up until the 4 or 5 week point where we started noticing him signaling. I'm enjoying seeing the differences between the two of them.
Big yawn:
