I was trying to be all educational and stuff by doing a little "St. Valentine's Day" history reading, and what better place than the History Channel website?
I should have known better.
How nice that they give "Special Thanks" to the American Greetings company. Complete with hyperlink so you can stock up on some greeting cards.
I swear - I'm not even looking for this stuff people.
I can't knock the holiday altogether -
I actually do enjoy making cards for Valentine's day. This was something my Mom did for us when we were children. Sometime she also made heart shaped pancakes for us too. My Dad always brought home a small heart-shaped box of chocolates for each of us (the children) and a large box for our Mom. I have to admit, I have fond memories of this tradition. I know if I ever procreated, the day wouldn't go ignored.
The point? My parents created a lot of special memories during my childhood, and, if I'm ever trying to market a product, I'd consider tying it in with family and tradition :)
