5% of woman deliver on their due date. 3-4% of babies remain breech at term. Guess which percentage I'm falling under?
Dr. appt. was yesterday and I consented to another internal exam as I haven't had any real progress and we wanted to see where we were. The Dr. felt what turned out to be toes. I went in for an ultrasound and a pelvic x-ray which confirmed the baby is in a footling breech presentation. This is not a good position for vaginal birth unless you are dilated all the way, which obviously isn't going to happen to me (I'm still barely 1 cm). Without the baby's head on my cervix, it just isn't happening. Even a frank breech would be better, as then his butt would be on my cervix.
Due to my size and the size of the baby, the chances of him turning a very slim. I'm still trying everything I can at home and attempting to get into a chiropractor as soon a possible, but it looks like I stand a good chance of having to schedule a caesarean. Not in our plans at all, and I'm pretty devastated about it. Of course, the important thing is the baby so I'll suck my disappointment up and say - as long as the baby is healthy, I can endure anything.
