New Photo Home

First thing - I've found a new home for my photos - Flickr! I like the interface better than what I have now. Even better news, I have a new camera, which I can plug into my computer and dump photos! Woo-hoo, no more waiting to have them dumped to Marc's computer, burned to CD and then uploaded. I no longer have the photos open to the world, so if you are family or a friend who would like to view our photos, send me your email address so I can invite you please.

So this year we got a subscription to Vegetarian Times. I have been picking up this magazine for over half a year, and usually find a ton of recipes we really like in each issue. They have a lot of quick recipes too, which is pretty much all I use now. It's funny, I used to love recipes that took all day. Stews, soups, gumbo. The Heaven on Seven cookbook. Now if it takes all day, it needs to get in the crock pot.

The March issue had a great article about all-natural cleaning products (which I've been slowly phasing in for awhile now). Mainly I've been using white vinegar & water for most cleaning, but this article has solutions for just about everything. I haven't tried them all but the two I have, I'll stick with. First, furniture polish. 1 tsp. lemon juice mixed with 1/4 c. olive or vegetable oil. Worked great on our coffee table, bookcases & tv stand.

Dishwasher detergent - I didn't think I'd be able to get away from the "especially for dishwasher" stuff, but this really works great. 2 Tbsp. Borax & 2 Tbsp. baking soda combined in the detergent compartment. White vinegar in the rinse drawer. I've done this the last 3 washes.

Not only is this much cheaper, but it is safer too. Most cleansers on the market have nasty chemicals that you really don't want floating around in the air you breath.
