A Little Slower, But I Am Back

After so many years of DSL, dial-up is going to be hard to get used to. I don't think I can browse the photos on my site anymore :)

What a week and a half it has been, busy, stressful, tiring!

I know Marc has made an entry, so I'll try not to repeat too much, and will make more specific entries later.

There is a woodpecker right outside the front window right now, and that's pretty neat - there are many creatures here - so far we've come across frogs, salamander(?), snails, rabbits, and more gigantic, freaky insects than I could have gone my whole life without seeing.

There is an overwhelming amount of work to be done on this house - inside and out. The yard also needs a tremendous amount of work. (Clearing a couple of fields, re-seeding the grass, etc). But, even though, I still really love this house. It feels good, it's quiet and beautiful here, and it's ours - I'd rather be working on something that is ours, which we can enjoy, than being stuck in an apartment, where we wouldn't do any improvements.

I won't lie - the well bothers me. It sounds like it is frequently contaminated, and nothing is ever done to remedy it (at least placing a filter on the well side). The real problem is sharing the well 3 ways - I don't think the people we are sharing it with have the money to improve the well (even split 3 ways), so if we really want to do something, we'll have to take the burden of paying for it. I'm not sure I'm interested in doing that right now. A filter at our house should fix any issues we'd have.

We have no TV. This isn't a big deal - we haven't had cable in over a year either, however, no cable in Chicago means you still have the major networks, - ABC, NBC, Fox, WB, PBS, CBS, UPN, WCIU, etc, etc. Here in Troy, it means not even 1 channel comes in.

That's all for now. It's hot and I have a filter company coming in a couple hours.
