Nothing better to do...

Troy seems to be one of those places where people have a lot of time on their hands. Well, specifically children. Our new neighbors (11 & 13), were so excited about mowing our lawn yesterday. They had asked to do it a week ago, and when we saw them yesterday they asked "When will you be home, we want to mow your lawn!", in fact, they were reluctant to take money for the job. Needless to saw, I love our new neighbors :)

On the other side, time, or perhaps, some other inexplicable factor has caused other people to inform us "Your car is ugly!" and "Your car is gay!" The fact that this car was the most affordable 4 wheel drive with plenty of cargo space doesn't matter here. I know it's silly, and I shouldn't car - put it kinda hurts my feelings that anyone would be so aggressive - I've been trying very hard to be pleasant, smiling, and friendly to everyone I meet here, as it's such a different environment than Chicago (where you shouldn't be too friendly - more strangers want to take advantage of you than not).

And lastly (so far) - the return of the prank phone call. I haven't had to deal with a prank phone call in so many years, and I'm afraid it caught me a little off guard:

9:30ish pm, the phone rings...
Me: Hello?

Caller: Yes, this is Dominio's Pizza calling to confirm an order for delivery. for 2 large pizzas?

Me: No, we did not order any pizza (Thinking: Wow, we can get pizza delivery out here?)

Caller: (Acting very dissapointed) Aww, no. Can you just pay for them when they get there?

Me: (Baffled, they would ask) NO, we are NOT paying for pizzas we didn't order.

Caller: (Pleading) Please! I just started working here, and I don't want to get fired.

Me: Well, the company should have caller ID, so you can confirm the number the order is coming from.

Caller: (Still pleading) Please, just pay for them!

Me: No! I'm NOT going to pay for pizzas I did not order, talk to the guy who ordered them.

Caller: I HATE you!

Me: Tough shit. (Hung Up).

Sigh. I wasn't even a particularly good prank. I'm pretty sure we don't have a Dominoes, and the nearest one is probably a 30+ minute drive. Granted, we paid to have a St. Louis-metro area code, so dial-up wouldn't be long distance, but still - no pizza place would ask a victim to pay for ordered food, and employees certainly wouldn't get fired for someone placing a phony order.

Anyways, note: (Especially for Sarah). If you want to see one of the best TV series around, get Freaks and Geeks. It's my(our) new favorite. Come on over and we'll watch all 18 hours :)
